Obituary of Nancy Braley Staton

Nancy Carol Braley Staton, 80, of Rustburg, VA, passed away Thursday, February 1, 2024, at her home after a lengthy illness. Thrice married, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Thomas Shelby Melton, second husband, John Leroy Hart, Jr. and her last husband, Darrell Wayne Staton. 

Born February 14, 1943, in Spencer, WVA, she was a daughter of the late Cullie Arnold Braley, Sr. and Gertie Wilson Braley. She was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Dillwyn, VA and was formerly employed by the Virginia Dept. of Corrections. She enjoyed working in her flower garden. 

She is survived by her sons, Thomas Melton (Lori), Mark Melson (Janet), Mike Melton (Allison) and Chris Hart; one brother, Arnold Braley, Jr. (Joan); two sisters, Alma Lou Dodd, and Martha Sue Taylor (Clare); five grandchildren, Rae Hart, William Melton, Erin Sparks, Jasper Melton, and Ruby Melton and two great-grandchildren, Kenzie, and Kendall Sparks. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Charles, Gene and Danny Braley. 

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude's Childrens Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Pl., Memphis, TN, 38105. 

Her request was that no service be held.
