Obituary of Andrew Anthony Ianniello

Born Andreo Antonio Ianniello to Michele (Michael) and Maria (Mary) Pollastro Ianniello in Hell’s Kitchen, New York City.

The family moved to Syracuse's North side in 1940 where Andy forged many of his lifelong friendships. He was a graduate of North High School, class of 1953. During the 1950s he was a proud member of the Pompeian Players. His passion for electronics led him to attend Syracuse University studying electrical engineering, obtaining his FCC License and serving in the Air National Guard as a Radar Technician. His civilian endeavors started with work at Sylvania, GE and ultimately IBM. Early in his 28 year career at IBM, he became regarded as the very best field engineer in the company, traveling the US, Canada, and Venezuela. Andy was the recipient of several awards during his time at IBM and also served on several Design and Development Teams for Large and Intermediate Computer Systems; ending his career as a Sr. Tech Specialists and Instructor. After retiring he spent 3 years with a team at the FAA Academy in Oklahoma City to train and develop a training course for IBM’s 9020 System; and was part of the training & installation team, and grand opening of the system in Leesburg, VA.

He loved telling stories of his life, dancing, traveling, and spending time with family and friends. He was part of a tight group of friends, “The Get Together Group,” that went as far back as kindergarten and 1st grade.

He was predeceased by his son, Michael, grandsons Andrew S, Michael J and Michael G, and his sister, Rose. Sadly, his sister Ann passed away Feb 6, 2024.

Surviving to cherish his memory and tell his stories are his loving wife of 35 years, Brenda White Ianniello, Anne Barbieri Dalton (the mother of his children), his daughter, Andrea M, Sons Andrew A (Jamie) and Joseph V (Mary), granddaughters Melina and Bella, and several nieces and nephews.
